Trigger Points

I find that injecting Trigger Points can really help tight muscles relax. Trigger points are persistent spots usually found in the belly of a muscle. They are tender to the touch and often cause referred pain when pressure is applied to them. During this procedure I inject small amounts of a solution of a local anesthetic (lidocaine or procaine) and sodium bicarbonate into painful points in the muscle. Injecting the tender trigger point(s) helps the muscle relax and often addresses referred pain.
