I use Prolotherapy (prolo-proliferation) to help address chronic musculoskeletal discomfort. This technique involves the injection of irritants into ligamentous structures in the neck, back, or extremities which causes those structures to be strengthened and thus improve support and relieve pain.

This procedure originated in the late 1940’s. It involves injecting dextrose (sugar water), procaine or lidocaine (numbing medicines), and sometimes methylcobalamin (Vitamin B12) into structures which have been damaged and are loose or causing chronic pain. This procedure does not involve the injection of cortico steroids (such as Cortisone). Experiments in animals and humans have shown that ligamentous structures are strengthened and thickened by this therapy. Studies have also shown this to be an effective therapy in relieving chronic pain.
